When You SHOULD Meet That Needle! [Tips & Tricks]

Hai!
Have you ever faced a circumstance when you scared of something but you SHOULD do it without exception? Well, I have.

Last week I did some medical check up for my thyroid and the doctor asked me for laboratory check-up, means my blood should be taken!! Fyi, I have a trypanophobia a.k.a phobia with hypodermic needle. That horrible thing never touched my body after I got immunization when I was in elementary school but that night on Friday, November 22, 2013, was my first time after ages I've never allowed that thing touched my body. People say, "It's okay," "It won't hurt you," "You'll be fine," and the cliche sentence, "It only feel like bitten by an ant, not hurt at all." Well, when you are scared you will ignore others suggestion, right?

BUT, even though you hate that thing SO BAD like me, you can't avoid that for your entire life don't you? Therefore, here I give 5 tips and tricks to reduce the pain and your fear or anxiety when that 'ant' bite you :p

1. Pray

When in doubt, pray. When you scared, pray. When you faced knotty problem, pray. The Bible itself said, "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." -Matthew 21:22. All things you ask to God, as long as you send it to God and you believe you have (or will) receive it, you will. That day I prayed for a strength, a courage and yes, I received it. Even though that was a thing that I should do, but usually when I am too scared I will quit and don't care about anything. I am so grateful that Jesus strengthened and encouraged me that night :')

2. Listen to the Music

What are you doing when you are happy? Listening to the cheerful songs? Yes. What are you doing when you are broken heart? Listening to the pathetic songs? Definitely. Music will always help to entertain you, somehow. According to http://sciencedaily.com, listening to the music can help high anxiety person to reduce the pain. Researchers from the University of Utah Pain Research Center evaluated the potential benefits of music for diverting psychological responses to experimental pain stimuli. I've tried this that day and it works ( a little) to reduce my anxiety.

3. Sing LOUDLY

Yes! Put your earphones on, play a song and sing it LOUDLY! Believe me it'll help! That night I played Here I am to Worship, a song by Hillsong and I sang it very loud maybe even I screamed because I was too scared, yeah, you know, when you scared you will do whatever things to make you calm even if it's embarrassing.

4. Watch Comedy Video/Movie

When music still can't help you and your phone is compatible enough to play video or movie, you may try this. When you watch a funny video or movie, it's rare for you not to laugh. You will laugh, right? A new research in Time said that genuine laughter releases endorphins in the brain, chemical that activate the same receptors as drugs like heroin, to pain-killing and euphoria-producing effects. For example, when you just broke up with your mates and you laughing out loud while watching funny video or movie, pain that you feel in your heart suddenly like disappear, right? I didn't try this that night because I have no funny video in my phone but I believe this will help to reduce that "ant bite" pain.

5. Sleep

Yeah. Just sleep. When you sleep you can't feel pain, probably. I wish that night I was sleep so I would not feel that pain.

How was my condition after my blood taken? I almost fainted.
No, not because the pain. It's not really hurt, fortunately. I was almost fainted because I saw my own blood. I shocked because I thought they would only take a little bit of my blood, a drop or two drops not more, not full of that syringe. Yeah, I also have hematophobia, a fear of blood. Such a weak and coward right? I am scared of everything. Thank God I could pass that horrific time and the result is good, everything is normal :)

So, good luck if you are about to do medical examination like this. Hope those tips will help you to reduce your anxiety that lead you to the painful pain :D
