A Splendor of Telaga Warna, Dieng

Olla!

In the mood of blogging tonight. I'm typing while sipping my green tea now, oohh it feels sooo good! Tomorrow I'll start my new semester in Sadhar (Sanata Dharma University, my campus), time is surely goes fast! Can't believe I'll enter my fifth semester here, feels like I just entered this campus yesterday.

Last Thursday, mas Dody and I were going to Dieng, Wonosobo, a place that commonly said as the highest plateau in Java.

It's been months we planned to go there, actually we made many plans to go to several cities in Indonesia; Bali, Malang and Dieng. For Bali and Malang, we think we are not ready enough to go there because we should prepare more moneys. Therefore we choose Dieng, a closest city compared to the others, as our destination. At least we can reach this place by motorcycle :)
Honestly, one day we have made a plan to go to Dieng with mas Dody's friend, sadly his (mas Dody's friend) motorbike was broken that day so we cancelled it.

I don't know why but I feel like I have to go/travel somewhere new in my every holiday. This semester's holiday for example, for 2 months I hadn't travel to a new place and I feel so empty and bored. That's why before I start my new semester and do my (probably boring) daily activity, I insisted mas Dody to accompany me exploring a new place. I was so pleased he agreed to go! Fyi, that was the first time for both of us going to Dieng! :D

How was my adventure in Dieng? Let's explore this plateau together!

Mas Dody picked me up from my house at around 9 p.m at Wednesday, we planned to sleep in our boarding houses in Jogja then would start our adventure at dawn. The next day, I woke up at 3 a.m sharp, I prepared hot water in a thermos so when we were tired we could stop, rest for a while, probably with sipping hot coffee or tea. I heard that in Dieng, temperature can reach 0°C that's why I prepared everything to avoid cold or worse, hypothermia.

After prepared everything in my bag, mas Dody picked me up and we were heading to Dieng. Even in Jogja we were cold, how about in Dieng? Maybe we'd freezing (*0*)
Interesting thing happened when we stopped at gas station in Kaliurang Street. We saw a group of young ladies who walked unsteadily and yelled and laughed at each others. Even in one glance I could say they're drunk. Call me an old-fashioned but I'd never seen a 'scenery' like that before. To see my friends drinking alcohol, I have. To see them being cheesy? Never. I think it's embarrassing when it were me who was drunk and acted like that. Even mas Dody who used to be a drunker long time a go think their behavior was inappropriate.

We stopped once again at McDonalds because we were hungry, well I was hungry. We bought chicken porridge there, luckily they prepared plug so I could charge my phone while eating. We would use my phone's GPS so I had to make sure its battery was fully charged. Right after eating, our journey was truly started.

Magelang Street, a road we ride were totally quiet that dawn. Only one or two motorbike and several buses and trucks passed it. It was around 5 p.m when we passing Magelang Street, we were amazed because we could see a transition between night and day. How great is our God who could make this world and universe! We took photos of the moon which shone brightly and we took photos of sunrise also!

Beautiful isn't it?
As I said before, this is our first time going to Dieng. We didn't know which road to take, we only go straight, followed what GPS been instructed until we were in somewhere near Purworejo. We were shocked by a big sentence printed in a huge board said, "Road to Wonosobo is broken".

We asked an officer nearby and he said we had to turn back and go ahead until we found a guttering in 3 km ahead. Well, we followed his instruction but couldn't find any. Finally we decided to ask a resident, we stopped and mas Dody go to asked him. I sat on motorbike while mas Dody having a conversation with a resident. When he came back and explained to me what road we had to take, I moved my body a little and accidentally the motorbike was unsteady and fell then pressed my body. I screamed a little then I saw mas Dody, he just standing there in front of me and giggling and said, "I told you to be careful, the buffer isn't steady".

"What? You didn't tell anything! I didn't hear you say such words!"
"I did!"
"Hey why don't you take this thing away!? My foot is confined!!!"

He took away the motorbike then we continued riding. I didn't say any word because I felt crossed with him. Saw his girlfriend, his beloved one confined by a heavy motorbike and he just standing and giggling in front of her??? How could he! :'( He kept begging my apology, I kept silent until I asked him, "Why did you just standing and giggling like that???"
"Because I thought you were alright"
"Then, if I'm alright do you think I could lift it by myself?"
"No... But I thought it wasn't urgent. I didn't know that your foot was confined"
"Oh my gosh! So, if my foot wasn't confined you would not take the motorbike away?"
"I'm sorry. Is it hurt?"
"Do you think it isn't hurt???"
Then...he was being silent again.

After quite a long journey, finally we entered a place with a great scenery. Green was everywhere! We thought we were in Dieng already but we were wrong! Dieng was still about one hour far. Hmm, hadn't arrive at Dieng but the scenery was great, how about it in Dieng then?

In Wonosobo, we had to pay retribution first before we continued riding. We paid Rp 5.000 for 2 tickets and one map. I tried to read the map in order to decide which place we'd go first, but I was blinded. Okay, I cannot read a map -_____- That's what mas Dody always said, in reading a map, men is always better than women. Alright, this time he's right. Well, he always right -____-"

We stopped at a mini market to buy cup noodles because we were hungry and tired. Apparently, hot water that I bought was being cold already but we had no choice so we still poured it into our noodles' cup. We ate half-cooked noodles :( Hiks hiks!

Finally arrived in Dieng Plateau!!!!

Our first destination was decided, we'd go to Telaga Warna! Before we touched this place, we had to pay Rp 18.000 for retribution again. This retribution included fee for 4 places; Telaga Warna, Kawah Sikidang, Dieng Plateau Theatre and Arjuna Temple. Though we had paid cover charge for 4 places, we still have to pay Rp 2.000 for each at Telaga Warna. I don't know why :/

However, it's all worth because Telaga Warna surely has a beautiful scenery! I love the color of the water, totally beautiful! Cyan, turquoise and black were mixed into one lake. Soo beautiful! People said the color of this lake will change constantly based on the sunlight. This lake contains sulfur that's why the color change when sunlight touch its surface.

We enjoyed the beauty of Telaga Warna until we ran out our phone's battery. Too amazed, we took many photos of this lake. I wanted to walk around this lake but when we touched the coast, the smell of sulfur became more strong and made me hard to breathe. We had to move to another place.

It was Kawah Sikidang, our next destination. Sadly I was being weak again, only in several meters I smell the strong sulfur scent. The more I tried to struggle the more I felt my head became dizzy and my body became limp. I feel so sorry to mas Dody, because of me we could not visit this crater :( Huhu!

The next destination was Dieng Plateau Theatre. Here we watched a documentary movie about Dieng; its history, its geographical condition, and its culture. A keeper of this theater said there is a great place where we can look at both Telaga Warna and Telaga Pengilon from above. He gave us a direction but we misunderstood it, we walked on the wrong direction that lead us inside the jungle -,- Creepy!

So proud
It was mas Dody who found out the right way, he insisted me to go to this place even though I felt exhausted. I was shocked because the place where we could see Telaga Warna and Telaga Pengilon was on the huge and steep rock. I have to admit that I'm afraid with height :(

I screamed when mas Dody asked me to join him on the rock. No waaayyy!! It's too steep and too height! I don't wannaaaaaa :( I cried and screamed there, maybe if someone were listen, s/he probably thought I was going to be rapped. Hahaha!

Scared but insisted to smile

On the way back to home, we stopped to buy Mie Ongklok, a typical food of Wonosobo. It's totally tasty and yummy! The plus point was, it was cheap! We bought 2 bowls of Mie Ongklok, Hot lemon and 4 Tempe Selimut and only cost Rp 17.000! Woohoooo :D

Mie Ongklok. Highly recommended!
On the way home, we were lost in Magelang because we didn't use GPS -___- Thank God, after asking several residents we finally found our way home :)

Though I feel amazed with my journey to Dieng, but I feel a little unsatisfied because I explored few places only. Maybe next time I'll stay overnight at Dieng to experience its cold and to explore more cool places ^__^

The next day which was Friday, I got a surprising message from unknown number said that I am one of the participants for YMCA Peace Camp that will be held 11-17 September 2013. I will meet my brothers and sisters from Japan in this camp! Yeeeyyy!!
Last two years, my friend, Dita was joining this camp and she got many friends from Japan. Thanks to Dita who always shares her experiences (which makes me jealous and envy) and always motivate me to do this and that ^__^
Above all, I want to thank my Lord and my Savior, Jesus who always help me even though I have become such a bad girl for Him :')

For this camp, I have to skip my whole week in campus means I will leave my study for a week. Yesterday I chatted with one of my lecturer and she said everything should be managed carefully, if I can manage everything then nothing to be worried. I always remember her words, "You gain some, you lose some." That's the consequences. This is my first time joining a camp with foreigner, means I have to communicate with them in English!! Kyaaaaa so nervous!! Wish me luck! Can't wait to share my experience here :)

Screw internet connection! It's totally slooooowwwww! Spent more than an hour only to post this! I can't even upload photos :(( I feel desperate! :'(
I think I have to sleep now. It's 1 a.m already, I have promised my mom not to sleep over midnight and I broke my promise :( Sorry mom. Moreover, yesterday is my first day in my 5th semester, hope everything will be alright :)

Good night, morning, afternoon or evening (depend on where you live now ^^)!
Thank you for reading. I'm so sorry my grammar is totally messed up, will revise it soon ;)

Take care everybody and God bless you!
